Armorial bookplate of James O'Byrne. Contemporary speckled calf, subtly rebacked with a gilt spine, a handsome copy. Already a leading Scottish architect, Adam embarked on a lengthy Grand Tour in 1754, taking in Brussels and Paris before spending several years in Rome, studying and meeting contemporaries. Along with the French draughtsman Charles-Louis Clérisseau he spent five weeks in Split studying the palace. Item #53334
