Our Coaching Trip. Brighton to Inverness.
New York: Private Circulation, 1882. Sole edition, 8vo, (iv), 275, (1) pp. Inscribed from the author on the dedication leaf to the chemist Sidney G. Thomas and his sister, Lilian, with her and her husband's bookplate to the fly leaf. Original gilt titled cloth, spine sunned with some wear to ends. Along with his cousin Percy Gilchrist, Thomas patented the Gilchrist-Thomas process for refining pig iron, something that Carnegie wrote about in glowing terms in another book "An American Four-in-Hand" (1899), where he mentions meeting them both in London on this trip, and when this book was presumably inscribed to them.
