First edition, first issue, 4to, xxiv, 250 pp. Engraved title, portrait frontispiece, and 11 engravings in the text of the introduction, slightly later owner's name to the paste down. Later dark green half calf over contemporary marbled boards, light wear to the edges of the latter otherwise a very good copy. The auction included over 1,300 lots of books, 300 lots of coins and medals, and a wealth of other material, including bronzes, paintings, furniture and suits of armour.
