London: B.T. Batsford, (1940). First edition, viii, 136 pp. Black and white photographic plates plus a couple of paintings reproduced in colour. Elizabeth David's copy, with her booklabel and ten bookmarks saving places in the volume, nine of which are inscribed by her with the relevant details and page numbers, plus a quote from the book in her hand on notepaper also loosely inserted, as is a cutting from the Observer magazine on corn doillies, dated in David's hand. A few of the inscriptions are somewhat faded. Cloth, slightly faded and marked. A book that was presumably used in the research for "English Bread and Yeast Cookery" (1977). Item #45348
