First edition, square 8vo, (xxviii), 78, (6) pp. Two portraits of Whistler cut from magazines tipped to the fly leaf, armorial bookplate opposite, some occasional mild foxing. Original cloth backed gilt titled boards, mild darkening of the spine. Defendant in an action brought by Sir William Eden for failing to deliver a portrait of Eden's wife for which he had received payment, Whistler was allowed to keep the painting but was ordered to refund the fee plus interest and costs.
