London: W. Lee, at the Turks-Head in Fleet Street: and R. Roytson at the Angel in Ivie Lane, 1652. Second edition. 8vo. (xiv), 366, 84 pp. Recent full calf, gilt lettered to the spine. Wanting the frontispiece called for in some copies of this edition. Some marginal staining, though generally very good. Wing, C685. A reprint of Bayly's account of the Royal conference (originally published in 1649) coupled with the Cartwright's rejoinder, criticising Bayly for "giving a false report favorable to the Catholic Church" (ESTC). ESTC mentions a frontispiece plate in this edition, though not for the first edition thus published the previous year. Copac is more equivocal, only mentioning the frontispiece in some of the copies it provides collations for. Item #29471
