Contemporary black full morocco, spine with raised bands, gilt decorated to the compartments, title in gilt to the upper board, thick patterned endpapers, presentation inscription to "Hammett Drake Son of John Mervyn Cutcliffe Drake Major General C.B." on the verso of the title page. Sometime sympathetically rebacked preserving the original spine, one of the folding leaves with several tears without loss, previously repaired with tape and now with more subtle tissue repairs on the verso, light wear to the edges, else very good.
