Plan of the Parish of Ewhurst, in the County of Sussex.

Plan of the Parish of Ewhurst, in the County of Sussex.

[London: Published by] C. Moody; W. Beck, Surveyor, 1843. Partially hand coloured map, to a scale of just over 5 inches to the mile, map dimensions 73 x 57 cm, overall 81 x 62 cm, backed onto linen and varnished, showing 1,064 distinct fields and properties. A little creased, with a noticeable vertical crease, plus some wear to the edges, particularly where it was clearly once attached to rollers at the top and bottom, but generally in good sound condition. Accompanying the map is a 30 page booklet, bound in contemporary limp cloth, listing the landowners in alphabetical order and the individual fields and properties with their size and tithes payable, numbered in accordance with the map. The booklet is rolled from being kept inside the map, and has damp stains to the covers only, otherwise good. The parish includes Ewhurst Green and Staplecross as well as Ewhurst itself, and is stated at the foot of the map as being 5,803 acres in area. Scarce, with only one other example located, in the East Sussex Record Office. Item #25022
