First edition. 4to. 244 pp. Publisher's blue cloth, printed labels to the spine and upper board, English script to the former and Chinese characters to the latter, Quentin Bell's copy with his signature in ink to the front free endpaper, a few pencilled notes to the rear free endpaper and a number of his Post-It notes sticking out at the edges bookmarking pages - mostly plates. Numerous illustrations, some in colour. Some mlld wear and fading to the covers, the labels a little marked, generally very good. Quentin Bell (1910-96), the son of Clive and Vanessa Bell, nephew of Virginia Woolf. Aside from his work relating to the Bloomsbury group, including a very influential biography of Woolf, he was also an artist in his own right and an esteemed art historian. Item #44990
