Map of China Prepared for the Inland Mission 1905.
London: Stanford's Geographical Establishment, 1905. Map dimensions 91 x 106 cm, overall 94 x 115 cm. Large folding colour map of China, including Korea, inset key describing the "Significations of of Walled Cities in China Proper" to the lower right corner - listing capitals, prefectures etc. and their symbols on the map plus a short glossary of Chinese geographical terms, dissected into 45 sections and mounted on linen, publisher's yellow printed advertisements to the folded end sections, folds into the original purple cloth slipcase with a Stanford's printed label to the upper cover. Some light wear and discolouration to the case but sound, occasional mild spotting to the map, very good overall. Emil Bretschneider was a German sinologist, several editions of the map were produced by Stanford with his permission from the late 1890s through to the 1920s. Item #44420
