Contemporary aubergine half morocco over marbled paper sides, spines with gilt tooled wide raised bands, gilt lettered direct to two panels, a prior owner's inscription to the front of volume I and their small label to the rear of the others. 210 plates, 182 handcoloured and 28 black and white. Occasional light rubs, very good overall. First published in France a decade earlier, the complete work comprises sixteen volumes. This set forms the entire first section on mammals, beginning with humans in volume I before moving on to the other parts of the animal kingdom. Item #42526
