Three parts plus the index in two volumes, each from their respective first subscription editions of 595 copies. 4to. 600; (601)-1143, (1) pp. Publisher's brown cloth, gilt lettered to the spines and with a gilt portrait of the author to both of the upper boards, dust jackets, not price clipped. Profusely illustrated throughout. Minor indentation to the final 60 pages of volume II, small tear without loss but some minor creasing to the jacket of the same, very good. The first publication of the greater part of this monumental work, appearing three centuries after Aubrey had originally compiled his manuscript. Regarded as the "the foundation text of modern archaeology" (ODNB), the original is held by the Bodleian Library and includes a fourth part, never printed. Item #37828
