To Mrs. Mantell, of Castle-Place, Lewes. By the Author of "Brambletye House," &c.

[n.p., c.1833]. Broadside, 208 x 182 mm, printed on one side only. Two columns of text. Some light marks to the top edge and faint fold creases. A humorous piece detailing how Smith's muse has been banished by the various exhibits in the Mantells' museum, which are described in lurid detail. "Against the Iguanadon's fifty-feet tail, Not a house can make head - with that terrible flail..." Very scarce with just one copy noted in the National Library of New Zealand, presumably the family copy as the Mantells' son, Walter, emigrated there with the family archive ending up in the country's possession. The piece also appeared in the Athenæum Journal in 1833 and the Lady's Magazine in 1837. The price includes VAT to EU countries, please contact us if you are outside the EU. Item #36610
