Cloth, d.w. designed by John Craxton, price clipped, spine with light browning otherwise a lovely copy. Fielding was posted to Crete during the Second World War by S.O.E. alongside Patrick Leigh Fermor, where they helped the local resistance and gathered information on the occupying Axis forces. He went on to spend the rest of the war in Egypt, France and Greece, and wrote this following a post-war stay on the island. Item #35863
