London: Whittaker and Co., 1838. Second edition. 8vo. vi, 288, (2), 24 pp. Publisher's blindstamped cloth, gilt lettered to the spine. Hand coloured geological map of the British Isles and 5 plates, one of which is folding, plus a folding "Statistical Table of the Mineral Produce of Great Britain". Some foxing to the folding plate at the rear, slight marking to the spine with a little wear to the ends, a decent copy overall Donovan, p. 34. Considerably expanded from the first edition published two years earlier, which comprised a mere 71 pages plus preliminaries and included a seven page promotional essay for J. & C. Walker's geological map of England and Wales (which Burr contributed to). A pared down two page version of the map article appears towards the rear of this book. Neither edition is common, with seven copies of the first showing on Library Hub and just five of the second edition. Item #35637
