(ii), 20, (4), 28, (48) pp. Publisher's brown cloth, original printed title label to the upper board with the handwritten note "Royal and Military Academy" to the lower edge, old pencilled ownership inscription to the front free endpaper plus some similar pencilled annotations at intervals. Quite extensive foxing throughout plus some general grubbiness, neatly rebacked preserving much of the original spine, some marking to the the boards. Much of the first half of the book is dual language, comprising Hindi scripts, familiar phrases, articles of war and the vocabulary. The second half is printed exclusively in Devanagari script. The first edition was published in 1840. Both editions are quite scarce, with just the British Library copy of the first edition and 4 copies of this edition on Copac. Item #32127
