Publisher's dark green cloth, gilt lettered to the spines, the state arms to the upper board of volume III, old bookplates of Marlborough College Reading Rooms to the front pastedowns of the first two volumes, which also feature the inscription "Presented by Lt. Col. C.E. Luard 1923" to the versos of the front free endpapers. Each volume with a large folding colour state map at the rear, an embossed leaf with the arms of the state and a folding genealogy plus a full page monochrome map to volume I, a frontispiece portrait to volume II and a large folding colour town plan to volume III.
