Cambridge: Printed by Roger Daniel, 1640. First edition in English, small 8vo, (xlii), 146, (2) pp, lacking the initial blank. Title printed in red and black with a decorative border and fleur-de-lys device, somewhat browned, some leaves cut close with loss to the headline or page number, old manuscript accounts to the title verso, a few leaves with line numbers added in the margin. Modern blind stamped calf, red morocco label. The first English translation of the Fasti. Gower was a graduate of Jesus College, the work being published posthumously. STC 18948.5. The much rarer variant (one copy in the UK, five in the US) with a shorter imprint. Item #29611
