(viii), XIV, 332, (10) pp. Finely bound by Canape in contemporary red half morocco over marbled boards, gilt lettered to one panel of the spine, the remainder elegantly gilt tooled with a central compartment with a crown and the ciphered initials "C.C", original front and rear wrappers bound in, marbled endpapers with the armorial bookplate of an Arnold Schweitzer to the front pastedown, top edge gilt. Portrait of Charles IX designed and engraved by J.-L. Perrichon after Clouet plus vignettes and ornamented letters throughout by him. A lovely copy. Item #29555
