Loosely inserted is an autograph letter from the author, on his headed stationery and dated "Xmas 1914", thanking the recipient for her letter reporting that she had returned "safe & well, after your long benevolent fatigue of nursing the sick..." Original gilt titled red cloth, t.e.g., very slight sunning of spines otherwise fine. In his Introduction to a later edition of this work, T.E. Lawrence stated "[I] have grown to consider it... a bible of its kind... The book has no date and can never grow old. It is the first and indispensable work upon the Arabs of the desert..."
