[London]: Printed for the Author, 1764. First edition, folio, iv, (7 List of Subscribers, 1), 33, (1) pp, followed by 61 plates on 54 leaves - 14 double page and/or extending. Outer edge of plate XI cut close with loss to the plate number but no loss of image, some very mild soiling and a few spots, largely marginal, small marginal closed tear to the lower edge of plate IV. 19th century armorial bookplate. Modern half calf over 19th century marbled boards, some light wear to the boards, a very good copy. Already a leading Scottish architect, Adam embarked on a lengthy Grand Tour in 1754, taking in Brussels and Paris before spending several years in Rome, studying and meeting contemporaries. Along with the French draughtsman Charles-Louis Clérisseau he spent five weeks in Split studying the palace. Item #25344
