The Diary of the Late... Baron of Melcombe Regis: from March 8, 1749, to February 6, 1761; with an Appendix, containing some curious and interesting papers... Published from his Lordship's Original Manuscripts by Henry Penruddocke Wyndham.

London: John Murray, 1823. Fourth edition, 8vo, (ii), xvi, 472 pp, first 2 leaves (blank and half title) slightly loose, with staining to the lower margins of early and late leaves, bookplate, original dark green cloth boards, some rubbing, corners bumped, paper spine label browned. Politician and contemporary of many of the 18th century's great figures, such as Walpole and Halifax in addition to the Royal family, Dodington never achieved the influence or office he desired, remaining a marginal and somewhat pitiful figure. His Diary reflects this, being "...the most curious illustration in existence of the character of the servile place-hunters of the time..." (DNB). First published in 1784. Item #11581
