War Mongers. Clive BELL.

War Mongers.

London: The Peace Pledge Union, [1938]. Sole edition. 8vo. 24 pp. Publisher's yellow wrappers, printed in red and black, stapled as issued. Rusting to the staples, slight toning to the edges, very good overall. A label to the foot of the title page reads: "The Peace Pledge Union does not necessarily endorse all the views expressed in this pamphlet, which is published by it as a valuable contribution to current thought". Started in August 1938 with a foreword composed the following month, Bell's essay was composed amidst the annexation of Sudetenland and the heightened tensions in Europe led by Hitler's rise. Nonetheless, Bell presents his arguments for not going to war with Germany. Item #36122
